Fundraiser set for Hope for Families
Bob Evans restaurant, 317 W. Plank Road, Altoona, is hosting a community fundraiser for Blair Hope for Families on Sunday.
From 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Bob Evans will donate 15 percent of sales to the organization for customers presenting a fundraiser flyer at the time of checkout. Flyers are available at www.facebook.com/

yahoo.com. The donation will be made for dine-in and carryout meals.
Blair Hope for Families provides items, events and experiences that may be missed by the children in the foster care system in Blair County.
Sunday Funday set at Lakemont Park
LTD Boosters of the LTD Academy are hosting Sunday Fundays at Lakemont Park every other Sunday throughout the summer.
The events will all have two band sets and four acoustic acts competing in competition. The final Sunday will have three bands, and the winners of the acoustic acts competing for the overall winner.
The band schedule includes Left for Dead and The Sitch on Sunday, Dirt Kicker and This Albatross on Aug. 10 and 7th Gear, Flight 19 and Sky 2.0 on Aug. 24.
LTD Boosters is a nonprofit group that assists families with gymnasts on the LTD Academy Competitive Gymnastic Team.
Admission is free. CoBRH''s, the Belmar and Pellegrine's, along with Lakemont Park, will have barbecue foods available for purchase, and LTD Boosters will have adult beverages for sale.
Community day is Aug. 2 in Skelp
SKELP - The Sinking Valley Fair will hold a community day on Aug. 2 at the fairgrounds.
There will be a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food will be provided by the Sinking Valley Grange. A free bounce house and other free activities will be available for children.
There will also be a cow patty bingo.

Symphony league to sponsor bus trip
The Altoona Symphony League is sponsoring a bus trip on Aug. 28 to the American Music Theater to see "Music of the Night," the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The cost of the trip is $80, which includes transportation and the show ticket. The bus will depart from Lowe's in Altoona at 11 a.m.

Making Strides kickoff is Aug. 16
The 2014 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Blair County campaign will host its annual Breakfast Kick-Off at 9 a.m. Aug. 16 at The Casino at Lakemont Park, Altoona.
During this breakfast, attendees will learn lots about Strides and how our donations make a difference toward the fight against breast cancer.
The 2014 Honorary Survivor Chairs, Gloria Smouse and her daughter Abby Morgart, will be sharing an inspirational story of their breast cancer journey.

Portage Rotary to sponsor 5K
PORTAGE - The Rotary Club of Portage will sponsor the "Portage Summerfest 2014 5K Run" on Aug. 9 at the football stadium in Portage.
Awards will be presented to winners in each age group. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the run will start at 8:30 a.m. There will be a $20 registration fee, $15 if you register before Aug. 1.
