Richard J. "RJ" Erculiani, 67, Gallitzin, died Friday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of Albert M. Sr. and Rose (Gaida) Erculiani.
He is survived by his wife, the former Gloria Krozel, whom he married on July 29, 1967, at St. Patrick's Church, Gallitzin; and these children: Richard J. II (Malinda) of Columbus, Ga., Jason (Michelle) of Lilly and Jennifer of Gallitzin. He was a loving grandfather to Richard III, Ava and Sydney. He is also survived by his mother of Gallitzin; a sister, Irene Lynch, of Gallitzin; a brother, Terry (Mary) of Aurora, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Jean, of Levitt, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and a close friend, Mazz.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey, on March 9, 1977; his father on Nov. 7, 2006; and a brother, Aldo.
He was a 1965 graduate of Gallitzin High School.
RJ was the best husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards, having people over for meals and just being with people.
He was the former owner of RJ Tavern in Tunnellhill.
RJ was a member of Gallitzin American Legion, DAV, and Knights of Columbus Third degree.
He worked at Hiram Andrews Center as a chef.
He was known as Daddy Rick to many of his children's friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church Street, Gallitzin, PA 16641. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Demetrius Church, Gallitzin, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, as celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. Military rites will be by Gallitzin American Legion and other local military organizations.
