Phyllis Arlene (Smith) Jones, 86, died peacefully July 5, 2014, at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown.
Surviving are three children: Robert (Leslie) of Los Alamos, N.M., Nancy Murrin (Jim) of Bensalem and Russell (Beth) of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren: Katherine, James, Michael and Molly.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert "Bob."
Phyllis was raised in Hollidaysburg. After graduating from the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing in 1949, she moved to Philadelphia. She resided in Fox Chase until 2003, when she moved to Bensalem to reside with her daughter and family.
Phyllis was a giving woman. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Frankford and Jeanes Hospitals and had volunteered with the Burholme Ambulance Corps, local Girl Scout troops and St. Timothy Lutheran Church. She was a caregiver to neighbors and friends. Her final act of giving was being a donor to the Humanity Gifts Registry for medical education research.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
