Philip D. Cole, 59, Cresson, died Thursday at Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
He was born in Cresson, son of Mary "Nancy" (Miller) Cole and the late Henry S. Cole Jr.
Surviving are his mother of Ebensburg; two sisters: Suzy Lomire (Robert) of Pittsburgh and Becky Weyandt (Les) of Ebensburg; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Laich) Cole of Altoona; and nieces and nephews: Amanda Cole and Henry S. Cole IV, Matthew, Robert and Mariah Lomire and Benjamin and Blake Weyandt.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry S. III; and his cat, Puff.
Philip was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a coal analyst with Standard Laboratories, Cresson. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Italian Club, both of Cresson, and Loretto American Legion. He enjoyed his Harley motorcycle and his cats, Taffy and Mitten, and was active with the Humane Society.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Church, the Rev. Leo F. Arnone officiating. Committal will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local veteran organizations.
