IRVONA - A kayak and canoe float trip to benefit Sam Troxell of Glasgow will be held Saturday at Irvona Park.
Sign-up for the float trip will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at Irvona Park. For a $10 donation per person, shuttles will be provided for you and your boat from Irvona Park to Pennywrens in Flinton. Participants must provide their own boats.
A picnic style meal for the participants will be held after the float.
Anyone not participating in the float can purchase a meal ticket for $5 at the park, starting at noon. Other activities include a basket raffle and a corn hole tournament at 3 p.m. A white elephant auction is at 5 p.m., and a DJ will play from 1 to 4 p.m.
Troxell, 19, is a 2013 graduate of Glendale High School. He was in a car accident on May 18 and suffered multiple injuries. He was in the Intensive Care Unit in UPMC Altoona until June 6, was transferred to Chil-drens Hospital in Pittsburgh where he remained in ICU until this week. He will soon begin rehabilitation.
Money raised will be used for his sister Sarah's travel expenses, as well as Sam's needs and medical expenses. The event is hosted by his friends and family.
