Leona Florence Buck, 98, Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord Thursday at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring, after a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Edward D. and Matilda (Mock) Rouzer. She married William S. Buck in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2004.
Surviving are a son, Duane and wife, Joyce, of Newtown; four grandchildren: Stephen D. Buck and wife, Barbara, of Ashburn, Va., Joycelyn Hunn and husband, David, of Arlington, Va., Melissa Tice and husband, David, of Scotch Plains, N.J., and Scott Buck and wife, Alicia, of Doylestown; eight great-grandchildren: Robert Buck, Nicholas Buck, Allison Hunn, Claire Hunn, Philip Tice, Quinn Buck, Griffin Buck and Declan Buck; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Vaul and Darvin Rouzer; and her stepmother, Nora Locke-Rouzer.
Leona was a graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren and the Organ Society at the Jaffa Mosque. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Bill Pepper officiating.
