Dr. Peter P Fenchak, 85, Ebensburg, died Friday at Windber Hospice.
He was born in Wehrum, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Mary (Yanuda) Fenchak.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Barbara (Kirkpatrick); and these children: Brian and Carolyn (Senf) Fenchak, Debbie and Larry Roussin, Barry and Kathleen (Larsen) Fenchak; nine grandchildren, who loved their Pappy very much; and siblings: James and Helen.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; and brothers: Charles, John, George and Joseph; and sisters: Mary, Sophie, Anne and Irene.
Dr. Fenchak dedicated 50 years to his veterinarian practice, treating both large and small animals in many counties.
Pete was an avid outdoorsman and hunter; Boone and Crockett record holder North American Mountain Goat; livestock judging national championship; enjoyed the outdoors and landscaping his yard, garden and orchard.
Pete was a Penn State graduate and University of Penn Veterinary School graduate. Pete was a lifelong Penn State fan.
He was a member of the Safari Club, lifetime member of the NRA, Alpha Zeta-Penn State and Phi Zeta-Penn State.
He will be remembered most for his generosity and his kind heart.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Matevish and Matevish Funeral Home, Ebensburg. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ, Ebensburg, by the Rev. Chuck Davis. Committal will be at Lloyd Cemetery.
