HUNTINGDON -?J.C. Blair Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program held a graduation ceremony for its 66 patients on April 25, honoring their hard work and lifestyle changes.
Cardiac Rehab staff, patients and their families dined on a heart healthy Mediterranean meal held in the J.C. Blair Education Center.
Each graduate received a graduation certificate, special prizes and giveaways and special awards while listening to congratulatory remarks from J.C. Blair Cardiac Rehab Service Leader Denise Sheffield, AA, RN; and Cardiopulmonary Director Craig Cloud, RRT, CPFT.
J.C. Blair Cardiac Rehabilitation graduates celebrated their accomplishments in a special graduation dinner on April 25. Some of the awards included "Most Improved" and "Most Talkative."
"Reconnecting with staff and fellow rehab participants is always the favorite part of the evening, as we all reconnect with that support and wind beneath our wings to continue our lifestyle changes," said Sheffield. "We planted the seed of change. It is now up to the graduates to water and culture those seeds in order for their gardens to flourish with a beautiful and bountiful crop of good health."
J.C. Blair's Cardiac Rehab is the one of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation certified programs in the region to offer a medically monitored exercise program for those who have had a recent heart illness or
Cardiac Rehab combines physical exercise with risk factor modification to help with recovery and improving physical strength.
Risk factors are those things that put someone at high risk for having another cardiac event such as high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol and being overweight.
Beginning July 1, J.C. Blair's Cardiac Rehab program will be able to offer its services to patients who have been diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
