Albert P. Colian Sr., 81, Cresson, died Monday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Cassandra, son of the late Alfred and Flora (Carratelli) Colian.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Dolores T. (Murray); four children: Albert P. Jr. (JoAnn Klayko), Deborah Colian (Charles Eckenrode), Jeffrey M. (Michele Hatch) and Anita Colian; seven grandchildren: Sarah, Mary Jo, Matthew, Greg, Jill, Jason and Nathan; three great-grandsons; a sister, Lucy Cogan; and a special nephew, Paul Cogan.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons: Bevin Colian and Eric Colian; and a sister, Josephine Harris.
Albie was a 1951 graduate of Cresson High School, where he excelled in football and wrestling.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Olmsted (APA-188).
He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown, with 33 years of service and served on Sankertown Borough Council for 28 years.
He was a member of the Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and Cresson Italian Club.
Albie was a Cresson Little League coach and officer and was extremely proud that, during his tenure, the Cresson team was the first Little League team in Cambria County to have a lighted field.
He also spent many hours in the garage crafting wood into gifts for his family that they will treasure forever.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Charles M. Kennedy Funeral Home, Cresson, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday, July 4, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, by the Rev. Leo F. Arnone. Committal will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by Cresson American Legion, Sankertown VFW and other local veteran organizations.
