NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - One thing the Curve pitching staff has done well is prevent home runs, allowing just 37 heading into Tuesday night, second fewest in the Eastern League.
New Britain managed to hit three long balls, though, including back-to-back homers, and beat the Curve, 5-2, at New Britain Stadium. The Rock Cats won for the 12th time in 13 games after having their franchise-record 11-game winning streak snapped by Altoona on Monday.
Tuesday's game marked the first time the Curve allowed back-to-back homers since May 11, 2012 against Erie.
he situation took place in the fourth inning when Reynaldo Rodriguez smacked a solo homer to left field off Curve starter Pat Ludwig, and Brandon Waring added the follow-up in the same direction for a 4-1 Rock Cats lead.
Ludwig (0-2) was rocked in his second start since his promotion to Altoona. He went five innings allowing four runs, including all three homers, on seven hits.

The Rock Cats responded with four unanswered runs beginning in the same frame. Waring reached on a one-out single and scored on Mike Kvasnicka's two-run homer to right, putting New Britain ahead for good.
Henriquez added an RBI single scoring Garcia for the second time in the seventh, but that's as close as the Curve would get.
Stephen Wickens singled in the seventh and was knocked in on Brad Boyer's single for the game's final run.
Jason Townsend, who was activated on Sunday, made his first appearance with the Curve, going one scoreless inning and striking out two.
New Britain's Pat Dean (6-2) grabbed the win, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits. Lester Oliveros worked the ninth for his 16th save.
