Jane Louise (Phillips) Ross, 91, York, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Mary J. and Lesher V. Phillips. She married William R. Ross on Oct. 24, 1942.
Surviving are three daughters: Nancy Henchey and her husband, Thomas, of York, Connie Vay and her husband, Gary, of Pittsburgh and Janis Tisza and her husband, David, of Virginia Beach, Va.; three beloved grandchildren: Thomas R. Henchey and his wife, Jessica, of Dallastown, Kelly Zipko and her husband, Michael, of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Andrew Tisza of Virginia Beach, Va; and two cherished great-grandchildren: Sherri and Lincoln Henchey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ross; a sister, Margaret Richards; and a brother, Kenneth Phillips.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker, Jane held various jobs outside the home, including manager of elementary school cafeterias. She retired from the Virginia Beach School System.
Jane had a beautiful voice and sang in the choirs of every church she attended. She inspired a love of music in her husband and daughters who would all sing with her at family gatherings.
She was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the United Methodist Women's Association. Jane was a resident of the Village at Kelly Manor. The family deeply appreciates the excellent care the staff provided for her there.

A memorial service will be held in Altoona at a later date. A private interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park in Altoona.
