Shirley A. Butler, 77, East Freedom, died Friday evening at home after an extended illness.
She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late William Wiser Sr. and Virginia M. (Reese) Wiser. She married Russell L. Butler on March 16, 1957.
Surviving are her husband; two granddaughters: Trisha Bickel of East Freedom and Virginia Bickel of Hollidaysburg; a son-in-law, Charles A. Bickel and wife, Fanling, and son, Chang Zhe, all of Hollidaysburg.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Sue Bickel; a sister, Nancy Fink; and a brother, William Wiser Jr.
Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Tyrone High School and had worked at Big Yank Sewing Factory, Tyrone.
Shirley attended Smith Corner Church. She enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, baking, crafts and gardening, as well as Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State football.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Smith Corner Church, Pastor David McClanahan officiating. Interment will be made in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
Contributions in Shirley's memory may be given to Smith Corner Church or American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring.
