Shirley M. Dietzel, 79, Altoona, passed away Thursday evening at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.
She was the daughter of the late Howard and Freda (Weyer) Hartman. She married Edward W. Dietzel on June 27, 1953, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2001.
Surviving are four sons: Edward J., Terry R. and Gary J. and wife, Lisa, all of Altoona, and Larry B. and wife, Kathy, of Bellwood; six grandchildren: Gary Ray, Jared, Michael and Brian, all of Altoona, David of York and Kathleen Bickford of Ebensburg; seven great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Sandy Woleslagle.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry J.; and a sister, Thelma Lear.
Shirley was a graduate of Altoona High School and had been employed by Gable's Department Store as a credit office employee. She was a member of Juniata United Methodist Church and a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m., the Rev. Brent Salsgiver officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N. 4th St., Altoona, PA 16601.
