Curve hosting Zombie Night in July

June 20, 2014
The Altoona Mirror

Peoples Natural Gas Field will become a home for the undead on Thursday, July 10 with the Erie SeaWolves visit Altoona as the Curve are set to pay tribute to the show "The Walking Dead'' with Zombie Night.

Fact Box

Covering the bases

LEADING OFF: The Curve now head to Portland and will play the completion of a suspended game tonight at 6, then play the regularly scheduled game. The suspended game is from June 11 in Altoona and will be picked up in the bottom of the third inning with Altoona trailing, 2-1. The Curve will be the home team, and the game will go nine innings. The second game then will go seven innings.

SAFE AT FIRST: The Curve and Sea Dogs also have a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday - from a rainout in Altoona on June 12.

STEALING SECOND: There will be fines and suspensions for Curve and New Hampshire players stemming from Wednesday's bench-clearing brawl. Luckily for Altoona, its three players who were ejected are all position players - 3B Jarek Cunningham, 2B Gift Ngoepe and OF Keon Broxton. The Curve are already short on pitchers and can't afford to have any suspended right now with five games in three days.

ROUNDING THIRD: The Curve are going with two relievers in tonight's DH - RHP Joan Montero and RHP Kenn Kasparek - and both will be counted on to eat a lot of innings to help save the bullpen.

HEADING HOME: 1B Stetson Allie suffered some sort of undisclosed injury during Wednesday's brawl as he was punched by a member of the Fisher Cats, according to a source. Allie was lifted from that game and did not play Thursday. It's unclear if it's a minor issue or if Allie will miss extended time.
