Jack K. "Pap" Benton, 77, Claysburg, passed away Thursday at home.
He was born in Queen, son of the late Harold E. and Violet G. (Mock) Benton. He married Shirley C. Baker on July 7, 1956, in Beaverdale.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Audrey Walter and husband, James, of Claysburg; four step-grandchildren: Robert, Ethan, Heidi and Sarah; a special great-niece, Sieharra Musselman; a special great-nephew, Cody Claycomb; a brother, Duane and wife, Charlene; and two sisters: Bonnie Smolko and husband, Denny, and Linda Turgeon.
He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin E.; three sisters: Sharon Brown, Carol Jean Plummer and Sandra Benton; and two brothers: Robert and infant Neal.
Jack was a 1954 graduate of Beaverdale High School. He retired as a self-employed truck driver in 1990 and worked for numerous trucking companies throughout his lifetime. He was a member of Claysburg Church of God and a former member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Claysburg.
Jack enjoyed woodworking, making ornaments, gardening and flowers.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or service. Arrangements are by Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
