Abundant Life Church, 231 Howard Ave., will host its fifth annual block party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
In celebration of the "unity of the old Logantown community," the church offers free food, a bounce house, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, interaction games, a petting zoo, fun bus and bicycle giveaways.
The Oasis of Love Church, Huntingdon, will host Carolyn Arends, gospel music artist and speaker, at 10 a.m. June 29. The service will be held in Freedom Hall, the church's multi-purpose building.
Arends will speak at Creation Festival in Shirleysburg on June 28.
She has released 10 albums, written three books and has earned two Dove Awards.
An offering will be received.
Providence Presbyterian Church, 2401 Broad Ave., will present a free picnic-style luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday June 21. The menu will include homemade soup, hot dogs, macaroni salad, baked beans, fruit dessert and beverages.
The Twenty-eighth Street Church of the Brethren, 2800 Union Ave., will hold a free luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21 in its fellowship hall. The menu includes sloppy joes, macaroni salad, watermelon and a beverage.
Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd., will hold its 10th annual Missions Golf Classic June 27 at Iron Masters Country Club, 174 Cross Cove Road, Roaring Spring.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m. Cost is $65 a person and $240 for a foursome. It includes lunch, green fee and cart, prizes and snacks on the course.

The Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Loretto will conduct the sixth novena of 2014 to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Therese (the Little Flower) from June 22 to 30 at the Carmelite Monastery Chapel.

Churches of Northern Bedford County will hold a community worship service and picnic at 6 p.m. June 29, at the picnic pavilion of the New Enterprise Church of the Brethren, Brumbaugh and Replogle roads, New Enterprise.
The gathering is sponsored by the Southern Cove-Yellow Creek Ministerium in lieu of a summer vesper.
Families whose children participated in the Northern Bedford Elementary School religious release time during the school year are being invited to attend, as well as members and friends of all the churches in the community.
Attendees are invited to bring a covered dish to share. Hot dogs will be provided.
The event will begin with the picnic, followed by games, singing and biblical story-telling, featuring Stories that Count.

The Sacred Music Library, located in the First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg,will be closed the month of July.
All borrowed music should be returned by June 30.
The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Aug. 2.
