Richard H. "Rick" Gartner, 63, Queen, passed away Monday.
He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late Herman and Anne (Bongard) Gartner. He married Regina Marie McFadden on Oct. 5, 1973, in Langhorne.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Richard Jr. of Claysburg and Mark and wife, Amanda, of Cranberry Township; two daughters: Annamarie Beachem and husband, Joseph, of Cranberry Township and Maryann Bohn and husband, Jason, of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Joey, Miranda, Jeana, Valery, Mark, Stephanie and Conner; two brothers: Joseph and Dennis; and four sisters: Margaret Bannon, Kathleen Young, Eileen Stimeling and Veronica Farmer.
Rick served two tours in Vietnam in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed as a service technician at Coinmach Service Corp., which was previously AIR-serv. He was a member of St. Thomas More Chapel, Claysburg.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, camping and hiking with his grandchildren and spending time with his wife.
A funeral liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 1 p.m. today, June 18, 2014, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg, Father Leo Lynch officiating. Interment will be at Bedford County Memorial Park.
