Morris I. "Marty" Carp Jr. of Altoona died late Friday afternoon, June 13, 2014, at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Morris I. Sr. and Stella (Richardson) Carp. He married Karen S. Brubaker on June 6, 1970, at First United Methodist Church, Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Michael D. of Duncansville; a daughter, Ruth Ann Mazur of Greenwood; two grandchildren: Brandon Michael Carp and Brittany Elaine Boyles; and three siblings: William of Miami, Fla., Bertha "Bonnie" Carp of Columbia, Md., and Rachel Fisher of Bel Air, Md.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ella Carp; and a sister, Betty Hanks.
Morris served in the Maryland National Guard. He retired from the former Alumilite Awning Co. and was of the Methodist faith. He loved attending auctions, and he also enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. memorial service with military honors Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Gilden Barton Funeral Home, 1401 Ninth Ave., Altoona, by Pastor Richard J. Harter. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville.
