Walter D. "Bud" Baer, 87, Moon Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 11, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at Heritage Valley Sewickley.
He was born in Utahville, son of the late Walter Edwin and Maria Erma (Fry) Baer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores (Eckelberry), on Nov. 17, 2003.
He was the loving father of Donna J. Kozlik, Mark E. (Lynn) and Timothy J. (Colleen), all of Moon Township; cherished grandfather of Timothy C. (Kristin) Baer, Megan L. Daugherty, Mitchell A. and Patrick S. Baer and Matthew G. Kozlik; and proud great-grandfather of Jayna and Hailey.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria.
Walter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He had been a trades instructor and machinist for the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Pittsburgh Forgings and Pittsburgh Gear. He was a member of Coraopolis United Methodist Church and Coraopolis Masonic Lodge 674, F&AM.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the funeral home, Pastor Dean Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery with military honors.
