A Tyrone man faces charges after police say he brandished a gun during an argument.
Darnell L. Gray, 43, of 957 Pennsylvania Ave., Apt. 5, was arrested Friday by Tyrone police after witnesses told police Gray pointed a black handgun at a couple during an argument on the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Police said a subsequent search of Gray's apartment turned up an air gun that matched the description of the handgun Gray allegedly waived and then pointed at the couple as they drove past his apartment building about 4:20 p.m.
Police said Gray told the couple, "I got something for you. Wait here," before he ran into his apartment. The couple told police after going into a nearby store, they drove away, and when they drove past Gray's apartment building, Gray came out, pulled the gun from his waistband and pointed it at them.
Gray was arrested and arraigned on felony firearm not to be carried without a license and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
Tyrone Borough Police Chief John Romeo said there was a two-hour gap between the incident and when Gray contacted police and was ultimately arrested. Gray had no gun on him when he was arrested.
Romeo indicated that the felony illegal possession of a gun charge will be withdrawn, but Gray still faces charges in the matter.
Gray remains in Blair County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $25,000 bail with a preliminary hearing slated for June 17 before Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller in Tyrone.
