John Joseph Lynch, 68, Lakemont, Altoona, formerly of Williamsport, passed away early Saturday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Lock Haven, son of Joseph A. and Jane L. (Laubach) Lynch. He met his future wife, Linda Royer, in 1985. They married on May 29, 1999, in rural Martinsburg.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Lee Ann Denton and Dina Currie, both of Houston, TX; a son, John J. Jr. of Hollidaysburg; his mother of Williamsport; two grandchildren: Danielle and Tad; a great-granddaughter, Payton; three brothers: Patrick of Roanoke, Va., Francis of Williamsport, and Donald of Cogan Station; and a sister, Lisa Jayne Shepherd, of Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Lynch was a 1963 graduate of Williamsport High School.
He was of the Protestant faith.
John retired as a machinist from Norfolk Southern, Juniata Shops, after 18 years of service.
He enjoyed reading and socializing with his friends and family.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Salem United Church of Christ, rural Martinsburg, with the Rev. Jerry McCuller Jr. and Pastor Betty J. Royer officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Church Cemetery, rural Martinsburg.
