HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Bishop Mark L. Bartchak of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, will present 11 individuals with the 2014 Prince Gallitzin Cross.
The award is given annually to priests, religious and laity who exhibit the "evangelizing spirit" of the prince-priest and Servant of God Demetrius Gallitzin. The 2014 recipients were chosen because of their dedication to service on the parish and/or diocesan level.
The honorees are:
Callista Baer, St. Mary Parish, Orbisonia.
Dick and Marie Boland, St. Monica Parish, Chest Springs.
Barbara Ferazzi, St. Francis Xavier Parish, Cresson.
Michael and Debra Kelleher, Sacred Heart Parish, Altoona.
Angela Lavelle, St. Joseph Parish, Renovo.
David Madden, St. Mary Parish, Hollidaysburg.
Margaret Moschella, St. Mark Parish, Altoona.
Mary Clare Piatak , Bishop McCort Catholic High School, Johnstown.
Leo "Butch" Winkler, Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.
Bartchak will present the recipients with the award at a banquet on June 14 at the Cosgrave Center at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson. A social will be held at 5 p.m. followed by dinner and the award presentations at 6 p.m.
