Margaret Genevieve DeAngelis, 90, passed away early Tuesday morning at Homewood at Martinsburg.
She was born in West Decatur, Clearfield County, daughter of the late Hye Roy and Virginia (Butler) Goss. She married Edward V. DeAngelis on Aug. 23, 1952, in Altoona, and he passed away on April 25, 2009.
Surviving are two sons: Michael John of Pine Mountain Club, Calif., and Paul Raymond of Menifee, Calif.; three grandchildren: Tara and Caitlin, both of Menifee, and Laughton of Juneau, Alaska; and a sister, Lillian Laird of West Decatur.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alroy Edward, on Oct. 21, 2010; a grandson, Ellery; a brother, Arnold; and a sister, Lois Mayhew.
Peggy was a 1951 graduate of State Teachers College at Indiana. She retired as a kindergarten through sixth grade teacher in Altoona Area School District in 1985 after 32 years of service, having taught at Edison, Lakemont, Baker and Adams elementary schools.
Peggy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg, and a former member of the St. Paul's and Prince of Peace Lutheran Churches, Altoona. She was a former member of the Altoona Business and Professional Women's Club. She enjoyed square dancing with the Eldorado Squares and assisting senior citizens with their personal tax return preparations.
There will be no public viewing. However, friends will be received from noon until the 1 p.m. public memorial service Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the chapel at Homewood at Martinsburg, Pastor Scott E. Schul officiating. Private interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
