Women's Connection to hold luncheon
HOLLIDAYSBURG - Altoona Women's Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries, will hold its "Keeping in Touch" luncheon at noon June 11 at The Blairmont Club, 265 Larch St.
The cost is $14 per person.
Nancy Underhill of Centreville, Va., will present "Keeping In Touch, Can You Hear Me Now?"
Music will be provided by Paula Delattre of Duncansville, and Eric Daum, community and business development manager at Barnes and Noble, will present the special feature.

Railway employees to meet Wednesday
DUNCANSVILLE - The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will hold its monthly meeting at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Prime Sirloin Buffet.
NARVRE is the only chartered national organization whose sole purpose is the protection of your railroad pension rights. If you are a retired or veteran railroad employee (or widow) of any craft, you are invited to an informal meeting of NARVRE, Unit 173, Altoona.

Society plans St. Anthony Celebration
HOLLIDAYSBURG -?The annual St. Anthony Banquet, sponsored by the Italian Heritage Society, is scheduled for June 22 at The Blairmont Club, with hors d'oeuvres beginning at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 5 p.m.
A dance will be held following the banquet from 7 to 9 p.m., with music provided by Mario Crocetti Orchestrina Italiana.
The Dr. Joseph J. Bentivegna Outstanding Italian American awardee will be Sister Paula DelGrosso. The John Monti Arts awardee will be John Rita. The master of ceremonies for the evening will be Tony DeGol.
Preceding the banquet, there will be a Mass in Italian at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Altoona. The Mass and banquet are open to the public with tickets for the banquet at $33 per person.
Please plan to attend to enjoy an afternoon and evening of fellowship and to recognize the achievements and endeavors of those of Italian heritage.

American Legion auxiliary holds meeting
LORETTO -?Members of the Loretto American Legion Auxiliary met recently, with Bridget Yahner, president, conducting the meeting.
Treasurer Lorraine Noel reported that $400 was raised from the recent flea market held at the Legion Hall.
Mary Ann Baker and other members commended Kim Biter for the "awesome job" she did in raising more than $600 from Friday fish dinners held recently at the Legion Hall for a fund that is available to help victims of cancer in the area.
Noel reported that she and her husband had gathered more than 500 pounds of returnable cans with proceeds benefiting the scholarship fund.
Members are reminded that their dues for the past year must be paid now.
It was voted to give the girls from St. Michael's and Penn Cambria $25 each for their award on Americanism.
The auxiliary will give $50 to the Cambria County 4-H. It was also voted to give $25 to the County Council for their lottery tree that will be featured at the Cambria County Fair on Labor Day weekend.
Nominated for new officers, to be elected at the June 12 meeting were: Bridget Yahner, president; Annette Farabaugh, vice president; Lois Stoltz, sergeant-at-arms; Alma Scanlon, chaplain; Lorraine Noel, treasurer; Laura Dunham, public relations; and Annette Scanlon, secretary.
AFSCME retirees to meet Wednesday
DUNCANSVILLE -?The regular meeting of the retirees of the American?Federation of State,?County and Municipal Employees Subchapter 8306 will be held on Wednesday at the meeting hall on Patchway Road.
The executive board will meet at 12:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
