Arlene E. (Gates) Long Civils, 88, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.
She was born in Henrietta, daughter of the late Dorsey and Gertrude (Hartong) Gates. She was twice married, first to Cyril D. "Bud" Long and then to Kenneth E. Civils, both of whom preceded her in death.
Surviving are five children Janice Ruggles (Jeff), Terry Long, Gaila A. Koval (Frank), Mary Fornwalt (Jay) and Kevin Long; two stepsons: Stephen Civils (Nancy) and Kenneth D. Civils (Kathie); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons: R. Craig Long and H. Kent Long; a sister, Betty Horton; and two brothers: Walter and Lester Gates.
Arlene was a 1943 graduate of Morrison Cove High School. She enjoyed reading, shopping, watching TV and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville, with Pastor Dennis Derr officiating. Interment will be made in Carson Valley Cemetery.
