It is with deep sadness that the family of Edwin "Eddie" Stanton Magill, Jr., 70, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, and formerly of Sandy Ridge, announces his passing on Friday at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, following a brief illness.
He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Edwin and Catherine (Coffey) Magill.
Following high school, Eddie served in the U.S. Navy for six years from 1961 to 1967.
He was united in marriage to the former Penny L. Allan on Sept. 22, 1967. Mrs. Magill survives at their Huntingdon residence.
Eddie operated a successful barber business in Philipsburg, Eddie's Hairstyling, for 28 years. He subsequently worked for an additional five years as a barber at Stiffler's Barber Shop in Altoona.
He enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars, traditional archery, target shooting, custom knives, hunting, fishing, golfing and talking and associating with anyone. Eddie was a no-nonsense type of person and certainly enjoyed the company and friendship of many a folk. He was a very proud man who loved his family more than anything that life had to offer him.
In addition to his wife, Penny, of 46 years, Eddie is survived by three sons: Michael and his wife, Carrie (Coudriet) Magill of Milford, Scott and his wife, Heather (Sacolick) Magill, of Huntingdon, and Mark and his wife, Amanda (Neri) Magill, of Huntingdon. He is also survived by his nine beautiful grandchildren: Riley, Machias, Wyatt, Sean, Macee, Reina, Dominic, Conor and Abigail.
At the request of Mr. Magill, there will be no public viewing, visitation or services.
Memorial contributions in remembrance of Edwin S. Magill, Jr. may be made to Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia Inc., The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant Street, 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1938.
