Wayne K. "Pap" Frederick, 76, Roaring Spring, passed away Tuesday afternoon at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Jacob and Ada (Miller) Frederick. He married Linda Nier on June 14, 1959.
Surviving are his wife; three children: Mitch and wife, Bethann, of Roaring Spring, Kelly and wife, Kathy, of Bend, Ore., and Jill Brumbaugh and husband, Daren, of Roaring Spring; nine grandchildren: Mitchell and Adam Frederick, Justin and Megan Frederick, Benjamin and Rachel Brumbaugh and Chad, Grant and Lane Crossgrove; a sister, Doris Carper; two sisters-in-law: Louise Frederick and Mila Raugh; and an aunt, Anna Jewell.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard of Martinsburg.
Wayne was a 1955 graduate of Morrison Cove High School and a 1958 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. He was a dairy farmer, an auto service manager, a school bus driver, a horse show announcer, a livestock dealer and, before his illness in 2004, a partner with his son, Mitch, at Frederick's Meat Market in Roaring Spring. He was a lifelong member of First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring.
Better known as Pap by family and friends, he will be remembered fondly for his quick wit and sense of humor. His passion was primitive antiques.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at First Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. by Pastor Joe Surin.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to The Village at Morrisons Cove or Morrisons Cove Memorial Park.
