Samuel D. Weaver, 71, Grandview Road, Altoona, died Wednesday at home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Samuel C. and Mary P. (Schneider) Weaver. He married Mary Lou Gibbons on Oct. 26, 1964, at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years; two children: Scott of Wolf Laurel, N.C., and Shelly Kerr (Rich) of Altoona; two grandchildren: Chelsea Kerr and Tristan Weaver; a sister, Beverly Berkheimer (Tom) of Hollidaysburg; a brother-in-law, Robert Gibbons (Janet Garrity) of Ashville; a sister-in-law, Janet Stoltz of Durham, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Little Richie Kerr III; an infant brother, David Alan; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Stoltz.
Samuel was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for Weis Market for 10 years, PPG in Tipton for six years, and retired from Norfolk Southern in 1992 after 14 years of service. His passions were toy cars, trains and listening to local high school sports on the radio.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation.
