RYAN P. STASKO
Navy Seaman Ryan P. Stasko, son of Brian A. and Karen Stasko of Hastings, along with approximately 6,000 other sailors and Marines stationed aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, returned to Naval Station Norfolk, Va., marking the end of the ship's nine-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations.
While deployed, Truman conducted a full range of operations ranging from maritime security operations and multinational exercises, to providing air support for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Truman also conducted integrated operations with the French Navy's Charles de Gaulle Strike Group over a five-week period in the Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea and Arabian Gulf.
Squadrons assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 flew 2,902 combat sorties, or flights, totaling more than 16,450 hours in support of OEF.
Stasko is a 1998 graduate of Cambria Heights High School, Patton.
