James B. Closson, 88, formerly of Altoona, died late Saturday evening at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
He was born in Bellwood, son of the late James B. and Bessie L. (Myers) Closson. He married Dorothy C. Cary on May 24, 1980, in Juniata.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; two children: LouAnn and Robert; three step-children: Karen Archey and her husband, Rob, of Hollidaysburg, Kathy Luckett and her husband, Bill, of Orlando, Fla., and Joe McNeel and his wife, Kris, of Warriors Mark; eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by a brother, George.
James was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII. He was formerly employed as an assistant at the Daniel R. Myers Funeral Home.
There will be no viewing. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
