Joyce Ann Stahl, 79, of Hoagland Road, Bedford, went home to be with the Lord Thursday.
She was born in Blair County, daughter of the late Paul L. and Geraldine "Deenie" (Burgoon) McManamy. She married Clyde D. Stahl on June 19, 1954, in Patton, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1986.
Surviving are three daughters: Mary Jane Fetter and husband, Duane, of Bedford, Joy Kay Clark of Bedford and Susan K. Helsel and husband, Randy, of New Paris; a son, David of Bedford; nine grandchildren: Meagan, Ian, Dylan, Morgan, Jacob, Devin, Rosalind, Kathleen Feaster and husband, Dustin, and Danielle Garner and husband, James; and four great-grandchildren: Julia, Caleb, Noah and Khloe.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Paul.
Joyce was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School. She and Clyde owned and operated a dairy farm. They also were school bus contractors for the Bedford Area School District, and Joyce continued in that role until her retirement in 2009. She was a former member of the Bedford Bible Church, and she enjoyed playing the organ and being an Awana leader for the children at her church.
Joyce taught literacy and loved animals, her Bible study, traveling and going out to eat with her family. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her children and grandchildren and was known to them as "Muzz."
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, May 19, 2014, at Manns Choice Church of God, the Rev. Richard Whetstone officiating. Burial will be at Bedford County Memorial Park.
