Fort Roberdeau topic of meeting
BELLWOOD -?Glenn Nelson, director at Fort Roberdeau, will speak about the future direction of Fort Roberdeau, located at Fort Roberdeau Historic Site and Natural Area, a Blair County Park.
The site is best known for the Revolutionary War fort on the park grounds.
The Altoona Area High School orchestra will perform its spring concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in the AAHS auditorium. The concert will feature the AAHS String Ensemble, Full Orchestra and original musical compositions by the AP Music Theory and Harmony students. Tickets, which are $3, will be sold at the door. Participants will include?(from left): Samantha Stalter, Rachel Zeak, Erin Shuma, Nick Werner, Cristine Kibler, Madison Rairie and Alexandra Stauffer.
The presentation, "Back to the Future at Fort Roberdeau," will include a slide show of current programs and activities, as well as a discussion of the vision for the fort's future.
The program, sponsored by the Bellwood-Antis Historical Society, will be held at 7 p.m., Monday at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library.
The program is free, and all are welcome to attend.
South Hills plans block party May 31
South Hills School of Business & Technology Altoona campus will hold its inaugural South Hills Our Town?Community?Block Party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 31 at the campus, 541 58th St., Altoona.
This family-friendly neighborhood block party will include a drawing for an iPad, live local bands playing all day, a craft fair, face painting, temporary tattoos, flower planting, duck pond, bean bag toss, kids fingerprinting/ID cards, mini-sessions on Cloud technology, social media and more, along with a variety of food and beverages.
All are welcome, and proceeds from the event will benefit the Operation Our Town project in Altoona.
Boy Scouts to hold breakfast Sunday
Boy Scout Troop 25, sponsored by St. Mary's Church in Altoona, will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Memorial Hall, 1420 Fourth Ave., Altoona.
It will include made-to-order eggs, pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, toast, home fries, omelets, scrambled eggs, egg-white omelets and orange juice.
The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for ages 3 to 8 and free for ages 2 and younger.
History group to meet Sunday
BEDFORD - The Bedford County Dutch Corner History Group will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 741 Messiah Church Road.
