Dorothy L. Conrad, 80, known to her children as "The Warden," died unexpectedly Friday at her residence.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Max and Martha (Burns) Stoiber. On Jan. 27, 1955, she married Donald J. Conrad in Altoona.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage; a daughter, Renee Conrad Greenleaf of Pittsburgh; five sons: James D. and wife, Denise, Bryan and wife, Robin, all of Altoona, Eric M. and wife, Johanna, of Cresson, Max Douglas and wife, Kelly, of Newport, and Robert and wife, Karen, of Roaring Spring; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Marcella Reisdorf of Pittsburgh and Irma Scheffer.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marshel; and a grandson, Sean.
Dorothy was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1952; and graduated from the Altoona School of Commerce with an associate degree.
She was employed with Seymore Brothers, Altoona, as a bookkeeper for the past 53 years. That is where she met her husband.
She was a member of Hope Community Church, Altoona.
Dorothy was family oriented.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday by Pastor John A. Gray. Interment will be private.
