New hires and promotions
-- Dennis E. Doll of Hollidaysburg, president and chief operating officer, has been appointed to the board of directors of Reliance Bank.
Doll, who was named president/ COO of Reliance Bank in May 2013, began his banking career in 1981 working in various lending and management positions with Central Counties Bank, Mellon Bank, United Federal Bank, and PNC Bank prior to joining Reliance Bank in 1995. Since joining Reliance Bank, he has worked in the lending and branch administration areas and was promoted to executive vice president in 2004.
-- Thomas J. Dougan, formerly of Hollidaysburg, has joined P. Joseph Lehman Inc., Consulting Engineers to manage and grow its recently opened office in Pittsburgh.
Dougan brings close to 40 years of relevant experience as a manager and professional engineer to this position. His distinguished career as a project manager includes providing design solutions in Transportation Engineering/ Inspection and Land Development.
Awards and honors
-- Joseph Kasprzyk has been named recipient of the 2014 Ph.D. Dissertation Award in the category of Natural Science and Engineering by the Universities Council on Water Resources.
Kasprzyk, who received a doctorate from Penn State University in May 2013, is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
He is the son of Joseph R. and Deborah J. Kasprzyk of Bedford.
-- Cindy Zitsch, a food service manager at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale, has received the Department of Correction's outstanding performance award.
After working in restaurants, hotels and a candy factory, Zitsch joined SCI Houtzdale as a corrections food service instructor in March 1996. Almost a year later, in February 1997, she was promoted to corrections food service supervisor and in September 2009, she was promoted to her current position.
Course completions and certifications
-- Craig M. Kilmer of Tyrone, president of The Hancock Group Inc., recently completed several days of advanced training with IRA Experts in Orlando, Fla., on tax planning.
The group of close to 400 of the nation's top financial professionals heard information on new estate and gift tax exemptions, planning with Health Savings Accounts and IRAs, and the most recent IRS cases and rulings.
