TYRONE - A Tyrone man faces charges after state police allege he smashed another man in the face with a large glass vase.
Christian A. Crawford, 21, of 1317 Pennsylvania Ave. was arraigned Wednesday on aggravated assault and related charges stemming from the alleged attack April 28 along Hoover's Lane in Snyder Township, according to state police.
Police said Crawford broke a 20-year-old's left orbital bone in the assault. The victim's injuries required 10 stitches and a trip to a specialist in Pittsburgh who told police the bone was broken in several places. Police said the victim could still see out of his left eye, but it was extremely painful to move it.
According to the charges, the victim told state police that he was asked to go to a home on Hoover's Lane the night of April 28. When he arrived about 11:30 p.m., Crawford confronted him outside and shoved him, the victim told police.
The victim said he asked Crawford if he was drunk, and Crawford said, "yes." Crawford went into the house and everything seemed to have calmed down, police said, but then Crawford threw a large glass vase and struck the victim in the left eye.
Crawford remains free on a unsecured $75,000 bond and is due to appear before Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller on June 17 for a preliminary hearing.
