Area man seeks help with getting van
Johnathon Martin of Hastings is in need of a handicap-modified van to get him around.
Martin, 23, a college student, has short arms and is in a wheelchair. He recently passed his driving test, but has a license limited to a vehicle modified with joystick controls.
"I have realized graduation is creeping up on my and when it comes, my degree is pretty much worthless unless I can get a vehicle to transport myself to work," he said.
The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation only covers the cost of the modifications, not the cost of the vans, so Martin needs to come up with a 10 percent downpayment on the $30,000 vehicle.
