Richard Allen "Dick" Leighty, 76, Altoona, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Arthur and Mary (Kenney) Leighty.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Altoona, with whom he resided; a daughter, Melissa Patterson (Ken) of Altoona; a son, Arthur Leighty; a stepdaughter, Helen Snyder (Scott) of Altoona; a granddaughter, Hannah Patterson; a step-granddaughter, Christa Snyder; several other grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Stiteler (John) of Scotch Valley and Barbara McCreery of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend, Jack Wagner, who was with him until the end.
He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur and three children: Pamela, Richard and Donna Jean.
Richard was of the Catholic faith. He retired from Cookson Electronics as a security officer and was a part-time bartender at the Old Dutch Grill. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, May 3, 2014, with a funeral service following at 8 p.m. by Father Christopher Panagoplos, T.O.R, in Stevens Memorial Chapel, 1421 Eighth Ave, Altoona. Committal will be private at the convenience of the family.
