TYRONE - A Tyrone man stole cash from a former friend's apartment, according to police.
Curtis K. Weaver, 27, of Tyrone was arrested Saturday by Tyrone police on burglary and related charges stemming from the theft of $350 in cash from a Washington Avenue apartment.
Weaver had been friends with the woman who lives in the apartment, but she told him in March he was not welcome there, according to Tyrone police.
The woman told police she last saw the money, which was kept in a small, wooden box in an upstairs bedroom, on April 2, and about a week later she arrived home to find Weaver in the apartment.
Police said Weaver had a key, and previously when the apartment resident asked for it back, he claimed to have lost it. After the woman found Weaver in her apartment, she noticed items in the house were out of place, and the money was missing, police said.
Weaver was arraigned Sunday by Magisterial District Judge Todd Kelly and placed in Blair County Prison after failing to post $10,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing in Tyrone District Court is scheduled for May 6.
