Family planning class is Wednesday
STATE COLLEGE - A free introduction to the ovulation method of natural family planning will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St.
The ovulation method allows couples to confidently identify their times of fertility and infertility, and then use this information to either avoid or achieve a pregnancy.
The ovulation method is especially helpful for couples with infertility or who are breastfeeding.

Talent show planned in Greenwood
The Crazy Fest Talent Show will be held at 1 p.m. April 27 at the Greenwood Fire Hall, 1500 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona.
Crazy Fest started 24 years ago and remains today as an all-volunteer, nonprofit event. The combined efforts of area entertainers, business people and former contestants make this a one-of-a-kind event.
The show is open to all area talented young people, 21 years old and younger. Trophies will be awarded in 10 different age categories.
Contestants wanting to compete should call Dennie Huber at 942-2516. There are no auditions or contestant fees.
The public is invited to attend the event.
Admission is $2 per person, and tickets will be available at the door.
Gardeners offer 'Make It, Take It'
EBENSBURG -?The Penn State Master Gardeners of Cambria County invite children ages 5 to 11 years old to join in a Mother's Day "Make It & Take It" Craft from 10:30 a.m. to noon May 3 in the meeting room at 499 Manor Drive.
Participants can decorate their own flowerpot, hear a gardening story and plant a flower gift for Mother's Day.
Adults and caregivers are encouraged to attend to assist younger children with their craft project.
Call the Cambria County Extension Office at 472-7986 to register your child. There is a $5 fee per child.
Space is limited to 15 children, so registration is required.
StrongWomen classes start Tuesday
Individuals looking to get fit for summer can consider joining the StrongWomen program sponsored by Penn State Extension. It is a safe, motivating, highly effective weight-bearing physical activity program that includes food, health and nutrition education information.
This is a 12-week session with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Tuesday through July 15. Class sessions are held from 10 to 11 a.m. or 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the East Juniata Community Center, 1608 N. Fifth Ave., Altoona.
The program is in collaboration with Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission.
