Michael A. Finelli, 84, Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, formerly of 1039 Third Ave., Altoona, died Wednesday at the center after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Michael A. Sr. and Mary D. (Amarose) Finelli. He married Irene Pavlic on Sept. 6, 1952, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and she preceded in death him on Jan. 6, 2013.
Surviving are two sons: Douglas (Carolyn) in Louisiana and Ronald (Mary Ann) of Altoona; a daughter, Brenda J. Perretta (David) of Altoona; seven grandchildren: Douglas Finelli Jr., Tehia Douglas, Daniel Finelli, Lori Yurkovich, Brendan Perretta, Eric Finelli and Jamie Finelli; three great-grandchildren: Audrey Douglas, Allissa Douglas and Giovanni Perretta; and his special niece, Marilyn Perretta, who cared for him and whom he loved as a daughter.
He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Michael was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona. He retired from Maytown Shoe Co., and he enjoyed camping.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Franciscan Fathers. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
