Daniel "Danny" Stango, 79, Tamarac, Fla., formerly of Altoona, died Monday in Tamarac.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Marciano and Josephine (Mignogna) Stango. He married Michelle (Smajda) Smith, and she died Oct. 29, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters: Toni Stango of Tamarac, Fla., and Michelle Stransky in Georgia; a stepdaughter, Jennifer (Alan) Clark of Tamarac; a stepson, Michael Smith in Florida; a sister, Ann (Amerigo) Musto of Hollidaysburg; a sister-in-law, Lena Stango of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Vincent C. Strate of Altoona; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Anthony, Dominic, Michael and John; and a sister, Nancy Strate.
Danny was a 1953 Blanket Award winner in football at Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When living in Altoona, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Final arrangements will be held in Florida.
