Shuster's television ads claim he knew Obamacare was the wrong path for health care reform from the beginning and voted 40-plus times to repeal/replace it.
His party offered an alternative plan that kept many key elements of Obamacare. However, most health care benefits provided by employers would be taxed as income to employees and give tax breaks to employers.
Shuster voted to repeal/replace the following health care options:
- Giving health care to children and adults with pre-existing conditions.
- Allowing children up to 26 years of age living at home to remain on the parents' policies.
- Requiring insurance companies to spend 80 percent of premiums on health care services and less on executive compensation.
- Opening state Medicaid to families making less than $11,000 per year.
And many more.
Some people received cancellation notices because their plans did not meet the minimum coverage by Obamacare. These plans gave the insured a false sense of coverage.
