TYRONE - The Tyrone Events and Promotions Community, in conjunction with the Tyrone Community Days Committee, is looking for the next "Hometown Hero."
For the past eight years, the Tyrone Community Days Committee has nominated and selected individuals in the community that encompass the epitome of a servant leader by devoting their time and energies to programs and projects that benefit the people of the area.
The award, called "Tyrone's Hometown Hero," is presented each year at Tyrone Community Days at DelGrosso's Amusement Park. This year, the celebration is set for Aug. 1.
Nominations for the 2014 award are being accepted until June 1 at the Tyrone Chamber of Commerce office.
To make a nomination, submit a nomination letter detailing why this person should be considered for this award and enclose two letters of support. Sign, date and include your name, address and contact information.
The nominee must reside in the Tyrone area, demonstrate an attitude of servant leadership in the community, receive the majority of votes from the judging committee, complete the necessary paperwork to be considered and be nominated by a local resident.
Recipients can be an individual, organization, husband and wife or family.
