Fred T. Diehl, 91, Duncansville, died peacefully Wednesday morning at home.
He was born in Juniata Township, son of the late Levi T. and Edna M. (Baker) Diehl. He married Shirley L. Berkey on Oct. 5, 1944.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years; two sons: Barry (Linda) of Martinsburg and Jeff (Cathy) of Duncansville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Coppersmith of Duncansville.
He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Melvin, Leon, Ralph, Ira, Olene Leap, Ann Feather and Madeline Carper.
Fred was a 1941 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He worked for Conrail, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church, Newry, where he was in the Ushers Club for over 40 years, and he was a past member of Chimney Rock Beagle Club for 15 years.
Fred enjoyed farming and hunting.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Liebegott-Brown Funeral Home Inc., 1218 Fourth Ave., Duncansville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Patrick Church, officiated by Father Allen P. Zeth. Interment will be at Newry Lutheran Cemetery.
