2013-14 Mirror swimming all-stars

GIRLS FIRST?TEAM

Emily Brown, jr., Hollidaysburg: At districts, placed seventh in the 100 freestyle with a personal record of 58.06 and third in the 100 breaststroke with a personal record of 1:13.76. Also a member of the 200 medley (1:57.88) and 200 freestyle (1:45.35) relay teams that placed second at districts. Was also selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

Madison Clapper, fr., Hollidaysburg: Placed first 19 times, with five seconds and one third. Her main events were the 100 butterly and 50 freestyle (25.38). At districts, swam the 100 butterfly, placing fourth in 1:03.24, and the 100 freestyle, placing fifth in 56.35, setting personal records in both events. Was also a member of the 200 medley (1:57.88) and 200 freestyle (1:45.35) relay teams that placed second at districts. Was selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

Taylor Flaugh, soph., Central: Best time in 200 freestyle was 1:59.76. Best time in 500 freestyle was 5:21.84. Broke both of her own school records in the 200 and 500 freestyles this year. Won both events at District 6-AA meet. At states, placed 30th in the 200 freestyle and 25th in 500 freestyle. Moved up four places from where she was seeded in the 500.

Brianna Geist, sr., Altoona: Finished in fourth place at districts in the 50 freestyle in 26.47. Member of second-place 400 freestyle relay team at districts. Was a CWAAC second-team all-star.

Gabby Gironda, soph., Central Cambria: First place in 100 butterfly and set school record at Mark Hess Memorial Invite with time of 1:02.76. District champion in 100 butterfly and finished second in 500 freestyle. Set school record again in the 100 butterfly with time of 1:01.07. Finished 30th in 100 butterfly at PIAA state championships with 1:02.26. Two-time Altoona Mirror all-star.

Courtney Noal, jr., Hollidaysburg: In the 500 freestyle at districts, set a personal record of 5:57.49 with her sixth-place finish. She also finished fifth in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:26.79, also a personal record. Was a member of the 400 freestyle relay team that finished third in 4:02.52.

Katerina Parowski, jr., Altoona: District 6 champion in 200 freestyle (1:57.13) and 100 freestyle (53.60). Member of second-place 400 free relay team at districts. PIAA state participant, 26th in 200 (1:57.36) and 30th in 100 free (54.22). A CWAAC all-star in both the 200 and 500.

Cassidy Saleme, soph., Hollidaysburg: She scored 13 firsts and 8 seconds. Her best times were at districts, where she placed fifth in the 50 freestyle in 26.50 and placed eighth in the 100 freestyle in 59.97. Was also a member of the 200 medley (1:57.88) and 200 freestyle (1:45.35) relay teams that placed second at districts. Was also selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

BOYS FIRST?TEAM

Aaron Cummings, sr., Altoona: Finished in sixth place in 100 freestyle (52.24) at districts. Member of third-place teams in 200 and 400 free relays at districts. CWAAC second-team all-star

Greg Dinges, sr., Hollidaysburg: Had 12 firsts, seven seconds and four thirds over the course of the season. At districts, finished second in the 50 freestyle, with a personal record of 22.65. Was also a member of the second-place 200 medley relay team that qualified for the state meet in 1:37.14, as well as the district champion 200 freestyle relay (1:29.98). Was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay that placed second at districts in 3:28.00. Was selected to the CWAAC all-star team

Brian Flynn, sr., Hollidaysburg: Placed first 18 times, took eight seconds and two thirds. At districts, placed seventh in the 200 freestyle with a personal record of 1:53.85, and placed fifth in the 500 freestyle with a personal record of 5:07.91. Was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay team that placed second at districts in 3:28.00. Was selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

Alex Gehringer, fr., Hollidaysburg: At districts, placed eighth in the 100 freestyle in 52.98 and placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke with a personal record of 1:04.79. Was a member of the district champion 200 freestyle relay (1:29.98) as well as a member of the 400 freestyle relay that placed second at districts in 3:28.00. Was selected to the second-team CWAAC all-stars.

Max Gehringer, soph., Hollidaysburg: Placed second in the 100 butterfly 14 times this year. At districts, finished sixth in the 200 IM with a personal record of 2:10.04, and also placed sixth in the 100 butterfly with a personal record of 56.42. Was also a member of the second-place 200 medley relay team that qualified for states in 1:37.14. Was selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

Colter Long, jr., Hollidaysburg: Qualified for states in the 100 breaststroke, as well as being a member of two relay teams. Currently holds the 200 IM pool record (2:01.98) and 100 breaststroke record (1:01.24). At districts, swam the 200 IM, finishing second in a school-record time of 1:58.44. District champion in the 100 breaststroke with a school-record time of 59.24. Was a member of the second-place 200 medley relay team that qualified for the state meet on time (1:37.14), as well as leading the district champion 200 freestyle relay (1:29.98). Was selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

Mace Long, sr., Hollidaysburg: Four-year state qualifier in two individual events. Currently holds the school records in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:49.07, the 500 freestyle (4:58.34), 100 backstroke (52.29) and the 100 butterfly (52.17). Set pool records in the 100 fly (52.29) and the 100 backstroke (53.57). Was the district champion in the 100 butterfly (52.17) and was second in the 100 backstroke (52.29). Was also a member of the second-place 200 medley relay team that qualified for the state meet in 1:37.14, as well as anchoring the district champion 200 freestyle relay (1:29.98). Was selected to the CWAAC all-star team.

Nick McKim, jr., Huntingdon: Best time in 50 freestyle was 23.00. Best time in 100 freestyle was 51.55. Was part of two relays that set school records at District 6 meet -the 200 freestyle (1:32.98) and 400 freestyle (3:28.35). Is three-year member of Bearcats team.
