Donna Jean Ingold-Burk, 66, Coalport, formerly of Altoona, passed away Friday peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frederick William and Mary Marie (Fatigante) Ingold.
Surviving are her husband, Dan Eugene Dodson; a daughter, Monica Barnhart of Altoona; a son, Larry "Buddy" Burk of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Lane Burk, Brooke Barnhart and Mya and Alli Burk; a sister, Fredina (Rand) Ingold-Allison of State College; a niece, Taylor Allison; and a dear friend, Pam Swope.
She was preceded in death by two half sisters: Arlene Curtis and Alma Bennett.
Donna was a graduate of Altoona High School and studied at Cleveland State University. She had previously worked at Altoona Hospital as a phlebotomist, and she was a member of the Buccinese Society Ladies Auxiliary.
Donna lived for her grandchildren and loved spending time with her horses, especially Dixie. Over the years, she looked forward to trail rides and socializing with her "Buddies," which brought so much joy to her life. She will be remembered for her crazy sense of humor, being a great storyteller and most importantly, having a heart of gold.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 12:45 p.m. memorial service Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Santella Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in Donna's memory to Dreams Go On, c/o Debbie Kelly (program manager), 1006 Valley View Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
