Beryl Vivian (Douglass) Houck, 91, Duncansville, formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Friday afternoon of natural causes at the home of her daughter Deborah.
She was born in MacDonaldton, Cambria County, daughter of the late Jesse and Ruth (Krouse) Douglass. She married James A. Houck on July 20, 1946, in Winchester, Va. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1983.
Surviving are three daughters: Linda Faraday (husband, Murray) of Freemont, Ohio, Sandra Horn (husband, Glenn) of Meadville and Deborah Holsinger (husband, Bruce), with whom Beryl resided; two sons: Lester (wife, Linda) and William (wife, Susan) all of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren, including Sam and Jameson with whom Beryl resided; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two siblings: Gail Ross and Ream Douglass, both of Altoona.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Chester; four brothers: Lyle Douglass, Dalton, Charles and William Dobbins; and two sisters: Ada Davis and Carrie Magill.
Beryl was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, creating embroidery, putting puzzles together and listening to her CB scanner.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at John C. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, with Pastor Paul R. Campbell officiating. Private interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery, Williamsburg.
The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
