Thomas A. Golias, 96, formerly of Chesterfield, passed away Wednesday morning at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.
He was born in Chesterfield, son of the late Wendell and Mary (Poshedley) Golias.
Surviving are three brothers: Alfred of Parma, Ohio, Bernard (Phyllis) of Hinckley, Ohio, and Wendell of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mary Rita Diaz of Altoona; a brother-in-law, Herman Kessler of Altoona; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Stephen, Andrew and Monsignor John Golias; and four sisters: Sister Mary Rita, C.S.A., Helen Martous, Anne Barr and Cecilia Kessler.
Thomas served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one bronze star and Good Conduct Medal. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a master's degree in English and college law.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, Father Zab Amar as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
