Comic legend visits area
Emmy Award-winning comedienne and singer Vicki Lawrence will bring her "two-woman show" "Vicki Lawrence and Mama" to the Mishler Theatre for performances at 2 and 7:30 p.m. May 22.
Lawrence was a part of the legendary cast of the "Carol Burnett Show." In the show's seventh season, Lawrence created the cantankerous matriarch "Mama." After "Burnett," Lawrence went on to star in the sitcom "Mama's Family" for six years.

Ivyside Pride to perform
Penn State Altoona's Ivyside Pride choral group will perform "Images," a concert of diverse choral music featuring the works of Haydn, Eric Whitacre, and Rob Landes at 7:30 p.m. April 25 and 2 p.m. April 26 in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts.
Tickets are $5 for Penn State students and $7 general admission. Children under 12 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the box office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and before and during performances.
Lowry to play Palace show
GREENSBURG - Christian comedian, songwriter and singer Mark Lowry will bring his live concert to The Palace Theatre for one show only at 7:30 p.m. April 24.
Lowry is best known for his 13 year stint with the legendary Gaither Vocal Band and for co-writing the classic Christmas song "Mary, Did You Know?"

Pet artwork on display
The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona will open its latest exhibition, "Rachel DiAndrea: Dog and Pony Show," on April 18 in the Museum's George A. and Herbert T. Wolf Gallery. The exhibition features 40 pet portraits in pastel, graphite and watercolor and will be on display until Aug. 2.
DiAndrea, of Altoona, has won awards for four consecutive years at the prestigious Art Show at the Dog Show, a national juried fine arts competition dedicated to canine art in Wichita, Kan. She recently released her first book, "The Art of Being a Pet."
The museum will celebrate the exhibition at a Blue Monday event on May 5 (time to be announced). The program includes light supper and libations while guests enjoy traditional bluegrass music by Mt. City Grass. Cost is $20 per person. Call the museum at 946-4464 for reservations.
DiAndrea will speak at a Lunch a l'Art program at the museum on June 18. The program, which begins at noon, will include lunch and a presentation by the artist. Cost is $15 per person or $14 for SAMA members. Call the museum for reservations.
Consort hosts PSU ensemble
BEDFORD - The Pennsylvania Consort will host Penn State's noted women's vocal ensemble The Oriana Singers at 7:30 p.m. Saturday as part of the Consort's Guest Artist Series. The concert will take place at the Bedford United Methodist Church.
Tickets are $8 at the door and $7 in advance; students through high school are half price. Tickets are available at the Visitors Bureau and the National Museum of the American Coverlet, both in Bedford, and at the Everett Rexall Pharmacy.
