Grace M. Ivory, 87, Altoona, passed away peacefully Tuesday surrounded by her family.
She was born in Frankstown, daughter of Howard and Clara (Stewart) Leamer. She married Joseph E. Ivory Sr. on June 12, 1948, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and he died Jan. 13, 2013.
Surviving are two daughters: Regina L. Ivory and Diane K. Gomes; four sons: Joseph E. Jr. (Betty), David L. (Becky), James M. (Joann) and Dennis J. (Mary Jo); 10 grandchildren: Ashley, Christine, Justin, Natalie, David, Julie, Arlene, Victoria, Ariel and Aspin; and four great-grandchildren: Kaelyn, David Jr., Bailee and Tanner.
She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Hannah; a sister, Mae Malone; and two brothers: Ross and Glenn Leamer.
Grace was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and was employed at Sylvania during WWII. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and she was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, camping, sewing, playing the organ at home, and her beloved dog, Maggie.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 3, 2014, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Canoe Creek Cemetery.
In memory of Grace, donations may be given to Home Nursing Agency Hospice or the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
